Activities
Day Sailing
The University of Iowa Sailing Club (UISC) maintains a fleet of over 45 boats which are easily sailed by 1-3 people. Many members enjoy daysailing on Lake Macbride during the April-November sailing season. It is a wonderful way to spend a beautiful Iowa afternoon.
Racing
Intercollegiate Racing Team - The UISC sponsors an intercollegiate racing team, open to undergraduates. The team travels during the year to several regattas, hosted by schools such as Northwestern, University of Michigan, and Brown University. Contact the Rear Commodore or the Team Captain for more information.
Club Racing - The UISC hosts many racing events during the year, including informal weekend races and the annual Bastille Day Regatta, open to all members of the club. Racing is quite informal, and it's a great way to meet members of the club and increase knowledge of sailing. Click here for regatta results.
Social Activities
The UISC is a very diverse group of people, with many countries (U.S., Scotland, China, Germany, New Zealand, Japan, Russia,...a very international group) and many different occupations represented, and all age groups.. The club hosts several social gatherings throughout the year for members to meet one another, such as the Bastille Day Party in July.
Trips
Our group occasionally travels to regattas in other parts of the Midwest. In past years members traveled to Lake Red Rock near Knoxville, IA and to Clear Lake, IA. The Club has also taken trips to other local lakes and camped out and participated in various regional regattas.
