Minutes of the ISC Members' Meeting, Wednesday, 9/21/2005. in River Room #3, IMU,
Read and adopted at the meeting of 9/28/05
Commodore Lindsey Schneider called the meeting to order at 1830 hours, 13 persons attending, including Exec. Officers Lindsey S., Erin F., John H., Rich A., Eric O., and Heather C.
1. Minutes from the Mbrs'Mtg of 8/31/05 were read and adopted with one correction.
2. Officers' reports:
A. Commodore, Lindsey: All hands asked to help with the upcoming Davis Cup Regatta this weekend.
B. Treasurer, Eric: no report possible; Todd has not yet turned over the books to Eric.
C. Secretary, John:
The SuperScuttleButt will be mailed out to perhaps 3500 current and former members of the Club bringing them up to date on Club activities and asking for contributions to a Club Equipment Fund. Goal set is for $50,000. Targets have been identified as purchasing new boats for the fleet and restarting the fleet rotation program; purchasing a fail-safe tug; purchasing dollies and trailers for boats in the fleet. When the time comes, all hands will be called on to help fold, staple, stamp, and prepare for mailing.
Other projects, all in anticipation of another 10 years of Sailing up to the Club's 50th Reunion include a Archival Photo Gallery of old timers (a password will be provided), a Club e-mail address (mail to be auto-forwarded to whoever is the secretary) to communicate with old members, and sending Log Books out to all Lifetime members.
D. MCSA Racing Group, Matt Legg (co-captain)
1. Matias Perrett has approached Jeff Moses and Bill Budelier to serve as team coaches.
2. This past weekend 7 Club members went to Minnesota for MCSA team racing. They were: Matt Legg, Shane Duncan, Matias Perrett, Casey Judge, Lindsey Schneider, Eric Ozechowski, and Lauren Trolley. The Iowa team did not qualify for the final races.
3. Unfinished business:
The motion to purchase 2 FJ dollies at a price not to exceed $900 was placed automatically on the floor. Most likely they will come from Seitech; most likely, nose wheels can be added by Club members for easier pushing uphill. Motion called, and it passes unanimously.
4. New business:
A. Lindsey reports that the Club has received a bill from MCSA for $250 which will be paid from the Foundation Team Racing account.
B. Lindsey and Eric have returned the ISC's budget to Rec Services; in 2 or 3 weeks, the Club should know what funds will be made available.
5. Announcements:
A. Regatta this weekend. Here's the schedule---
Friday night, party for incoming teams.
Saturday: 8:30 meet at Boathouse; 9:00 Skipper's meeting; 9:30 races start; boats should be off the water by 4:00.
Sunday: 9:00 meet at Boathouse; 9:30 Skipper's meeting; 10:00 races start; boats will be off the water by 1:00.
All ISC members invited to come out, host the visitors, help with the regatta especially with the cookout.
B. With Todd's preoccupation with work, the Web site is down, the electronic key system needs fixing, and the financial records await transfer to Eric. Heather is willing to take over some of these tasks, but needs access codes and passwords.
C. The Albatross awarded by unanimous vote and loud acclaim to Eric Orzechowski for twice (not once) hitting his head against the boom (or vice versa, or else it was the motor boat's fault).
Meeting adjourned 7:30.
Respectfully submitted, John Huntley, secretary.
