Minutes for the  ISC Members' Meeting

3/23/2005, held in Room 341 IMU

Read and adopted by the Club on 3/30/31.

The meeting called to order by Commodore Schneider at 7:01.  15 persons attending (including Elected Officers Adkins, Clark, Flowers, Steinman, Springsteen, Orzechowski, Huntley, and Schneider)

1.  Minutes from the Members' Meeting of 3/9 were read and adopted.

2.  Officers' reports:

A. Commodore's report, Lindsey:

 1.  Lindsey read a note from Jesse Jans thanking the Club for the gift certificate to Sheels.

 2.  CPR classes can't be scheduled exclusively for ISC officers and members.  All hands are advised to sign up for regularly scheduled CPR classes coming up at Rec Services at the end of May or regularly at Johnson County Red Cross.

 3.  As ISC Racing Team co-captain, Lindsey also reports that the Racing Team competes at Purdue this weekend; ISC hosts a MCSA (Midwest Collegiate Sailing Association) regatta on Lake Macbride 4/16 and 4/17.

B.  Vice Commodore's report, Erin:

Erin circulated a brochure, “Iowa Sail Club 2005 Schedule: Teaching and Rating Program,”  for checking and approval.  The brochure lists activities both for new members and for seasoned sailors throughout ISC's sailing season.

C.  40th Reunion Leader, Jenny:

Still looking for a place and a time; UI won't permit any alcohol anywhere; 7/30 may be late, perhaps 7/16 or 7/23 would better suit returning sailors.

D.  Membership, Heather:

Inquiries about the Open House are answered by Erin's brochure.  It's scheduled for 4/23 and 4/24 at the boathouse; intro to sailing instruction will follow.  Ground School, Information Meeting, and recruitment of new members has been scheduled for 4/14 in the Kirkwood Room, IMU.

E.  Harbor Master, Dave:

The tree trimming project moves ahead (slowly but deliberately).  The Pontoon boat has been reloaded onto Kennedy Marine's trailer is is getting its new motor and steering cables installed.

3.  There being no unfinished business before the Club, Lindsey moved to consider New Business.

A.  Moved (Huntley/Carter) to consider at the next meeting, 3/30/2005, the feasibility and desirability of proceeding with a 40th Reunion program, and then to vote, Up or Down, on the project.  Discussion briefly followed, but was postponed until next week.  Motion passed.

4.  Announcements:

A new dust cover, freshly created from an aging jib sail, has been donated to the newly refurbished ISC industrial-strength sewing machine.

The ice is out of Lake Macbride.

BOATHOUSE OPENING  this Satuday  (and next)-All hands urged to help out.

Meeting adjourned at 7:33.

Respectfully submitted, John Huntley, Secretary
