ICS Members’ Meeting

4/27/2005 in Room 341. IMU

These minutes read and adopted at the Members’ Meeting of 5/11/05

The meeting called to order by Commodore Schneider at 7:00. 16 persons attending.

1. Minutes from the Members’ Meeting of 4/20/2005 were read and adopted.

2. Officer’s reports:

A. 40th Reunion Leader, Jenny:

The committee held its 2nd meeting at Jim Torner’s house last Sunday. The menu is set; fund raising is looking for target items on which to hang a campaign (new tug? news boats in old boats rotated out? Money to offset boathouse usage fees and insurance?); logo and invitation cards are ready for printing and mailing; the Alumni Association will provide us with a mailing list.

B. Commodore, Lindsey:

The request e-mailed to members for volunteers to fill the roles of Publicity and Social Officers has yet to produce a response. The Club also needs to identify a summer Commodore (neither Lindsey nor Lauren will be here), an historian or archivist, and perhaps a photo expert to digitize old Club slides in 35mm format that have been discovered lodged in an obscure corner of the Boathouse.

C. Fleet Captain, Richard:

Work involved in re-registering the fleet advances.

3. There being no unfinished business, Lindsey proceeded to . . .

4. New business:

A. Eric has received the warranty for the new Merc. 9.9 outboard; it’s been forwarded to the Harbor Master.

B. Moved by Erin (Trolley) that the Fleet captain form a small committee to look into accepting the proffered donation of a 15-foot Cat Menger and a proposed trade of a Laser for one of our C-Scows. Discussion followed; motion called; motion passes 15 Ayes, 1 Nay.

C. Copy Works estimates $500 for printing 2000, 2-sided, color post cards announcing the 40th Reunion and inviting members to attend. Moved by Huntley (Fricton) to authorize the expenditure if it exceeds the $500 limit.

D. Erin described plans for the upcoming teaching series which begins this weekend.

E. Huntley announces that the new boat-availability board shold be in place this weekend and that crew positions are open for the August trip in Lake Michigan & Green Bay.

There being no further announcements or discussion, Lindsey adjourned the meeting at7:30.

Following the meeting, Huntley and Budelier conducted a Skippers’ Seminar for Heavy-Weather Helmsmen planning to advance to Skipper this season.

Respectfully submitted,

John Huntley, secretary
