Safety ladders and new life jackets will be ordered this coming week.

Plans for the 40th Reunion/Bastille Day celebration were outlined for members by Erin. Invitation post-cards were distributed among members at the meeting.

B. Secretary’s report, John:

Expanded a bit on the origins and traditions associated with the Club’s celebration of Bastille Day and urged new members at help swell the happy crowd of new and old sailors that will gather over the weekend of July 15 through 17.

C. Membership officer’s report, Hather:

[Good bye to some; hello again to others later this summer or in the fall.]

D. Fleet captain, Richard:

Laser/Hobie regatta coming up in a week—these boats to be cleaned up and rigged, made ready to launch.

The “old” pontoon boat is to be rescued from the lock up and re-decked to be ready to serve as a floating island for future regattas and on-the-lake crew exchanges.

E. Harbor Master, Tom Hart:

The broken garage door has been diagnosed, Dan’s Overhead Doors and More called, and repairs are in progress.

3. Old business:

Once the Vagabond sails have been found, the old sails now blocking access in the boathouse will be rounded up and stored elsewhere until winter returns and sail inventory and repair starts again.

The Dave Lippy-Dave Steinman project to create new dollies on the pattern of the Seitech dollies proceeds slowly, but surely. Measurements have been taken, designs are being drawn up.

4. New business:

Tom Hart reports that the bill to the tree trimmer has not yet been paid; several members volunteered to talk with Todd Burzynski, the acting summer treasurer.

Exec officers are considering designating all members who are associated with the University (faculty, staff, alumni, and emeriti) with the letter “U” (as opposed to the letters “S” for student or “P” for public) in order to stress the recreational value of the Club to both the University and to the community at large.

Chuck Jones will donate some sailing in the Bahamas as one of the prizes to be given at the Reunion celebration; all these events will be scheduled to coincide with the banquet at The Branin-McQuillen farm.

5. Announcements:

John Snider reports that two wide-reaching FJ regattas are scheduled for the early fall, 9/10-11. They’ll need a new, regional name, anything that doesn’t include the word “Midwest.”

Erin reports that Scott Kavanagh has agreed to join the Executive Group as Social Officer, and that Kristin Ness and Sara Alford together have agreed join the Executive Group as Publicity Officers for the Club. These additions will be formalized later.

Race results from the afternoon (FJ Regatta #2, Rich and Erin as Race Committee):
