Sail Club Exec Minutes May 4, 2005


The meeting was called to order by Commodore Lindsey Schneider at 19:02.

Executive members present: Lindsey Schneider, Eric Orzechowski, Heather, Warren, Erin (& Cassidy) Flowers, Jenny Springsteen, Dave Steinman, Todd Burzynski, Richard Adkins and general member Tom Hart


Minutes from the previous exec meeting were read and accepted without change by general consensus.


Officer’s reports included:

Lindsey reporting that Wayne Fett is offering CPR classes on Monday May 23rd and Wednesday May 25th from 6-10pm at the Field House. There will be no fee, but Wayne needs interested members to contact him by May 18th to register. The need for social and publicity chairs were reiterated as well as the call for a summer commodore.


Erin Flowers reported that registrations for sailing lessons are up and there is a need for additional instructors.


Jenny Springsteen reported that 40th Reunion post cards are ready to be sent out and work is progressing on the T-shirt logo design. All other reunion planning is progressing well.


Richard Adkins reported that boat registration is progressing with the pontoon and one FJ in question. Pontoon keys have been returned to exec cabinet until the registration is brought current. In the mean time, the crash boat will be needed for team practice. (Todd B. later indicated that the registration should be resolved in time for weekend lessons.) Boats in the lock up, Penguins and Wind Surfers are yet to be done.


The acquisition study committee is recommend accepting Cat Menger donation for current club use and future sale potential. Progress will be subject to am independent appraisal and coordination by Warren to follow up on foundation donation procedures.


Buyers are Interested in C Scow and Inter-Lake boats currently in lock up.


Richard is recommending pending activity to include sail sorting and reorganization, repair to some old Lasers with most being currently sailable.


Todd Burzynski reported on lock system failures and will be consulting with the system vender. Todd was contacted by Gwen of the DNR requesting clarification on club proof of liability insurance. The matter will be further review with consultation suggested with Jim Torner, Warren, legal counsel et al.


New business

Boat Rotation Policy Discussion- Todd will propose a reactivated policy to include trading FJ’s and Lasers on alternating years as a goal when funds permit. Emphasis in lean times will be to continue with repairs, monitoring membership, and stipulate that boat sales be dedicated to funding the dedicated account.

Dave s former member welder to construct a pilot dolly alt to the C tech


M/S/C (Jenny S/Todd B).That Boy Scout Parents be treated as an exception to the club Membership dues policy, with individual Scouts being charged $25 and their parents charged $100 for sailing lessons. Parents may observe from the pontoon boat without fee.


The summer meeting schedule was accepted by consensus for Saturdays at the boathouse starting May 14th 5 PM


Next General Members Meeting is Wednesday May 11th and is the last meeting of the semester at the IMU
